Activities countrywide are supported by the head office in Arklow, Co. Wicklow and a network of regional offices. Our roots in forestry are the deepest roots in the country, and our aim is to offer the very best service to all forest owners.

We are looking for a committed worker with a keen interest in forestry Responsibilities will include:

  • Execute effective management and engagement with existing clients on how best to manage their plantations.
  • Site inspection for mapping/quality purposes
  • Liaising with existing haulage and harvesting contractors.
  • Supervising harvesting sites to ISO standards.
  • Provide accurate and timely data on production planning.
  • Coordinating projects with our team of harvesting foresters and liaising with external consultants such as ecologists and engineers.
  • Undertaking background research, desk studies and ecological fieldwork and impact assessment reporting, to best-practice guidelines and methodologies.
  • Advising owners on best forest practice and maximising financial returns, particularly in relation to harvesting and managing semi mature plantations.
  • Maintaining inventory and financial data on bespoke management systems
  • Delivering fit for purpose project outputs within set deadlines

Essential

  • A strong appreciation of commercial forestry
  • Motivated and highly organised, agile and adaptable to change
  • An ability to work on own initiative
  • Competence in GIS
  • Excellent planning and project management abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Full driving licence
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgment with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desirable

  • A recognised qualification in forestry at level 7/8 on the QQI Framework of qualifications or equivalent
  • A knowledge of all Forest Service forestry schemes
  • A knowledge of all paperwork associated with the Department for Landowners
  • A knowledge or experience of harvesting and marketing of timber

Salary commensurate with experience, plus phone, laptop and transport.
